Richard G. Rawson                    Principal Owner VRC Advisors
Having served as FDIC’s lead nationwide appraiser, Richard participated in the onsite examinations of over 120 banks during a period from 2011 though 2018.  Also, he actively assisted state and federal examiners at more than 100 additional bank examinations remotely from his FDIC office. Richard served as a key expert resource for technical skilled-based appraisal knowledge for the FDIC and FFIEC teams who were charged with updating the appraisal sections of the RMS Manual of Examination Policies and FFIEC’s Examination Documentation (ED) Module.  He has authored articles for The Appraisal Journal and FDIC’s Supervisory Insights Journal.   Richard received two of the FDIC’s prestigious Mission Achievement Awards.
Richard served as a chief appraiser at two banking institutions including six years with Bank of America during the 1990’s.  His 23-year federal career includes four years with the Office of Thrift Supervision, eleven years with the United States Department of the Interior where he served as Chief Appraiser in the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and nearly eight years with the FDIC.  Richard also served as FDIC’s investigator of complaints originating from the Appraisal Subcommittee’s Appraisal Complaint National Hotline. He has been a keynote speaker and presenter at more than 60 valuation industry meetings and conferences. Richard has been active in the appraisal industry for more than 35 years. He is the principal owner of Valuation Regulatory Compliance Advisors (VRC Advisors, LLC) where he provides financial institutions with independent regulatory valuation consulting services focusing on internal audit assistance of internal and external (outsourced) valuation functions customized to client and regulatory requirements.
